Asus brings down the price of netbook with their Eee PC X101H model. It is the cheapest one which gives you maximum portability with its light weight design. It comes with reloaded free MeeGo OS. It will surely hits the market and great relax for the people who were looking to buy a netbook for high end portability.
Design
It is a thin netbook which has the dimentions 262 x 180 x 17.6 mm and weights about 920gms, It is so lightweight design and offers the maximum portability as compared to other netbooks so you can easy to carry.
The back of the LCD was textured finish which gives a great look to it. The keyboard’s quality and performance is good, each keys are square finished, not gives a tactile feedback and its touch pad performs so bad sometimes it is unresponsive will take some effort to get used to it but while the X101H tags under the entry level netbook they are adjustable.
Performance
It is powered by Intel Atom N455 processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM and have 250GB hard disk which is enough for watching movies, browsing and document editing. The people who only those needs definitely can choose this. The 1024X600 LED Backlite HD display ensures a good quality for watching videos. But some HD videos makes a small lag while playing. Document editors like Microsoft Office, OpenOffice and Foxit PDF Reader runs smoothly on this netbook. The view angles of the display are poor. The high quality speaker of the device is just like all other netbooks.
Software
X101H comes with the preloaded MeeGo free OS this is the main reason for the low price of it. But it is not good one for it. MeeGo perfoms very poor on this, more than 3 websites can’t open at a time. The Apps are not available for MeeGo but Asus has providing an app store for this netbook, but it is not user friendly as Windows. We highly recommend to install Windows 7 (32 bit) Starter/Home which runs smoothly in this netbook.
Battery
It uses 3 cell battery of 2600 mAh on this is. It is gives a backup around 3 hours. While other netbooks are using 6 cell battery and gives a high-end battery backup around 8 hours, So it is comparatively poor. If you are looking for a good battery backup device it is not a right choice.
Connectivity
It has a VGA connector, two USB ports, LAN port, 3.5mm audio jack, Card reader slot besides WiFi and Bluetooth 3.
Conclusion
According to my product review it is not a too bad performer, It is a right choice who looks a device for web browsing and watching movies. And it is a portable among netbooks, Easy to carry. But its battery backup is a main draw back. And overall it is not a bad choice for the beginners.
