Asus is the one of the leading motherboard manufacturing company across the world. New Asus Motherboards are comes with High Definition Audio as front panel audio which is not supported by most of the ordinary cabinets. We can fix it with few simple steps. This post will describes about it.
- Enter into BIOS setup. (By pressing delete key while booting)
- Go to “Advanced” tab.
- Select “Chipset“.
- Select “Southbridge Configuration” from it.
- Change the “HD AUDIO” from “Front Panel Select” to “AC97“.
Now your Audio is changed to “AC97“.
- Now Save settings & Exit by Pressing “F10” key.
Now you can enjoy music through your front panel. Don’t hesitate to leave a comment here if you have any difficulties.

can you tell me how to activate the front audio and microphone port. i see the cabel inside already been connected but i don’t know if it was set in the right place or not. my motherboard is asus pskpl-am. wish you can help me out. Thanks You
Change your audio type in BIOS as I described above..
i already done it as you told. but it doesn’t work. my front audio & microphone port still cann’t be use yet.i don’t too like use the headphone all the time. it makes my ears ill so sometimes i change it to speaker. if can i want to use my headphone from the front port and so that it will be more easy to me
Enable front panel audio in your audio driver software.
i just realize that there is not front audio driver installed so that why it doesn’t work. after i install a software name “via HD audio Deck” which also contained when i buy the computer. it auto install the driver for me. so the front audio panel now is working. Thanks^^
ngg, I just want to make a request. can you make a post about how to make online store using the latest series of virtuemart, joomla, and xampp. i have problem to install the virtuemart extension to joomla when using the latest one.
